Description

Garlic Butter Cheese Bombs are crispy, golden-baked bites filled with gooey mozzarella cheese and infused with rich garlic butter flavor. Perfect as a quick snack or crowd-pleasing appetizer, these cheese bombs combine the perfect balance of textures and are easily customizable to suit your taste and dietary needs.

Ingredients

Scale

Dough Base

  • Refrigerated pizza dough or biscuit dough (enough to cut into 12 pieces)

Cheese Filling

  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Optional: 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Garlic Butter Coating

  • 1/4 cup (4 tbsp) unsalted butter
  • 34 garlic cloves, finely minced
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

Optional Add-ins

  • Crushed red pepper flakes, to taste
  • Chopped jalapenos or cayenne pepper for heat
  • Small bits of cooked bacon, ham, or pepperoni
  • Additional herbs such as rosemary, thyme, or chives

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Garlic Butter: Melt the butter in a small saucepan or microwave-safe bowl. Stir in the minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, and pepper. Let the mixture rest while preparing the dough to allow flavors to meld.
  2. Roll and Cut the Dough: Lightly flour a work surface and roll out the dough into a large rectangle about 1/4 inch thick. Cut the dough into 12 equal squares or circles, based on your preference.
  3. Assemble the Cheese Bombs: Place a handful of shredded mozzarella (and any optional fillings like Parmesan, bacon, or spices) in the center of each dough piece. Fold the edges over to completely seal in the cheese, pinching firmly to prevent leaks during baking.
  4. Brush with Garlic Butter: Arrange the sealed dough balls on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Generously brush the tops and sides with the prepared garlic butter to add flavor and create a glossy finish.
  5. Bake to Perfection: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the cheese bombs for 15 to 20 minutes until golden brown and the cheese is hot and bubbly inside. Allow to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • Seal tightly: Ensure dough edges are pinched well to keep cheese from leaking.
  • Use cold cheese: Cold shredded cheese melts better and holds shape.
  • Brush generously: Garlic butter enhances flavor and crust color.
  • Rest after baking: Let cool 5 minutes to avoid burning from hot cheese.
  • Experiment with cheeses: Combine mozzarella with sharper cheeses for added flavor.
