Description

A quick and flavorful Ground Beef and Broccoli stir-fry featuring tender seasoned beef and crisp-tender broccoli in a savory, umami-packed sauce. Ready in under 30 minutes, this balanced and nutritious meal is perfect for hectic weeknights and loved by the whole family.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef (lean or regular)
  • 3 cups fresh broccoli florets
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 green onions, sliced for garnish
  • 2 tablespoons cooking oil (vegetable or canola)

Sauce Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce (optional but recommended)
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup water (for dissolving cornstarch)

Instructions

  1. Prepare your ingredients: Wash the broccoli and cut it into small florets. Mince the garlic cloves and slice the green onions. Measure out soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, sugar, cornstarch, and water. Keep all ingredients ready near your cooking area to streamline cooking.
  2. Cook the ground beef: Heat the cooking oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook until browned and fully cooked, about 5-7 minutes, removing excess fat if needed.
  3. Stir-fry the broccoli and garlic: Push the cooked beef to one side of the pan, then add the broccoli florets and minced garlic. Stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until the broccoli turns bright green and is just tender but still crisp.
  4. Combine and add sauce: Mix the beef and broccoli together. Pour in the pre-mixed sauce (soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, sugar, and cornstarch dissolved in water). Stir continuously to coat all ingredients evenly and allow the sauce to thicken, cooking for another 2 minutes.
  5. Finish and garnish: Turn off the heat, sprinkle the sliced green onions over the top, and give the dish one last gentle stir. Serve hot.

Notes

  • Use fresh broccoli for best texture and color; avoid frozen unless thawed and drained well.
  • Cook in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding the pan, which keeps vegetables crisp.
  • Mix the sauce thoroughly so the cornstarch dissolves completely to prevent lumps.
  • Taste the sauce and adjust soy sauce or sugar gradually to balance salty and sweet flavors.
  • Let the dish rest for a minute before serving to allow flavors to meld beautifully.
