Cherry Blossom Mousse Domes are elegant, creamy, and airy desserts infused with a subtle floral cherry blossom flavor. Perfect for special occasions, they combine silky mousse with a smooth dome shape, balancing floral, fruity, and sweet notes. Easy to customize with variations like vegan options, berry infusions, and crunchy bases, these show-stopping treats are sure to impress any crowd.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • Cherry blossom syrup or extract – 2 tablespoons
  • Heavy cream – 2 cups (divided)
  • Gelatin sheets or powder – 2 sheets or 1 teaspoon powder
  • White chocolate – 6 ounces
  • Sugar – 1/4 cup
  • Lemon zest or juice – 1 teaspoon
  • Food coloring (pink or light purple) – a few drops, optional

Optional Ingredients

  • Fresh cherries – 1/2 cup, pitted and halved
  • Crushed biscuits or almond praline – 1/4 cup for a crunchy base

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Gelatin: Soften gelatin sheets in cold water or bloom gelatin powder in cold water according to package instructions, ensuring it will set smoothly without lumps.
  2. Heat the Cream and Chocolate: Gently warm 1 cup of heavy cream with the white chocolate over low heat, stirring until the chocolate is fully melted. Add cherry blossom syrup or extract, sugar, and lemon zest or juice; stir to combine.
  3. Incorporate Gelatin: Remove the cream and chocolate mixture from heat. Fold in the softened gelatin until completely dissolved, making sure the mixture is smooth.
  4. Whip the Cream: Whip the remaining 1 cup of cold heavy cream until soft peaks form. Gently fold the whipped cream into the chocolate and cherry blossom mixture to maintain an airy texture.
  5. Assemble the Domes: If desired, add a thin layer of crushed biscuits or almond praline to the bottom of silicone dome molds. Pour or spoon the mousse into molds, adding fresh cherries if using before filling completely. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight to set firmly.
  6. Unmold and Serve: Carefully unmold the mousse domes once set. Garnish with edible glitter, crushed pistachios, or cherry blossom petals as preferred. Serve chilled and enjoy.

Notes

  • Use quality ingredients like fresh cream and authentic cherry blossom extract for the best flavor.
  • Do not overwhip the cream; soft peaks create a light, silky mousse.
  • Allow sufficient chilling time for the mousse to set and hold its dome shape.
  • Silicone molds ease unmolding and prevent damage to delicate domes.
  • Adjust sweetness by tasting the mixture before setting and adding sugar or syrup as needed.
